Matt Dennison /Dark/

I want dark and
endless dark and
battle dark and brittle
dark and yellow dark
and pillow dark and
hour dark and letter
dark and coward
dark and sour dark
and hardcore-bawling
pity dark and never-
ending-ever dark and
pewter dark and
sewer dark and cruel
brilliant-infant dark
and morning dark
and shower dark
and barrel
dark and hairy
dark and foulest
dark of dealer dark
and kumquat-may-dark
envelope and nipple dark
and childhood dark
and heaven dark
and hellish-dark-
dark and
heart dark
reach dark
nibble dark
marble dark
mumble dark
strong dark air
dark penny dark
flaming dark and ugly-
fat-fucks-of-flesh dark and
now dark and then dark and crawl
dark and all the beg-bark-holler darks of life.

After a rather extended and varied second childhood in New Orleans, Matt Dennison’s work has appeared in Rattle, Bayou Magazine, Redivider, Natural Bridge, The Spoon River Poetry Review and Cider Press Review, among others.
